Khan first became involved in social justice work during her undergraduate studies at Brown University in the United States. After completing an MBA from Harvard Business School, she joined the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as a Project Manager— but she wasn’t content to limit her impact to that organization alone. In 2004, Khan founded the non-profit ProActive Women International (PAWI) which helps empower women around the world through economic development programs. The organization empowers local communities by providing tools and resources that can be used to develop businesses and create jobs.
Khan also uses her platform to give a voice to marginalized groups within societies that are normally excluded from decision-making processes— something she knows firsthand. Growing up in Pakistan, she faced considerable difficulties as a woman. But through hard work and determination, Khan beat the odds to become a successful entrepreneur and inspiring leader.
